In memory of Gordon Delph, son, brother, uncle, friend, table tennis afficionado, Pelos hard-core and most importantly, father of our son Sebastian. You went on your journey in such memorable company...Madiba of the world and Mc Donald Bailey. Sebastian laughed when I acted out what I thought you might say and do bumping into Mandela. He agreed heartily and added that your first order of business after that would be to find Compton and head for the nearest 'heavenly’ watering-hole. This photo is one of many of you I took over almost 20 years. The memories of happier times will always be in our hearts and the best of you will live on in Sebastian. I hope no one makes the mistake of challenging you to a game of table-tennis as I did back in 1981 at Coblentz House. I didn’t know of your champion status at the time...what a laugh on me that was when you left me at 21 love!! I was there when you worked so hard on your table tennis comeback to qualify for the team coming in second place behind the late Wayne Estwick, edging out your buddy Seamus Clarke. There are many stories and those from the hard-core Pelican bull-shit corner crew like O.E. Williams, Raoul Pantin, Wilbert Holder and friends like Asad Mohammed and John Dasent and the legions of 'Pelos' limers over the years, will help us to remember and celebrate your innings. Yes, you did it all and then some. I will above all cherish the ability you had to make me laugh...it was your most endearing quality. Sunday mornings with music blasting (favorite memory of Carrie Gupte too) is one of those hard to top. And the parties we had that people still talk about! Its going to be a toss up to put together the discography to send you off....it was eclectic...Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Rod Stewart, U2 and the list goes on. Though life’s twists and turns led us in separate ways, you will be in our hearts always and with the greatest gift of all from you, our son Sebastian. May you rest peacefully eternally. Love, Jo
Josanne
